This morning was unlike my usual chirpy mornings. I’ve been a little under the weather since I'm down with a slight cold and I was craving something warm and filling- like I always do when I feel unwell.
If you’re from Maharashtra and/ or traveled there, you know that there’s absolutely nothing better than a warm bowl of #poha (flattened rice) and a piping hot cup of tea on gloomy rainy mornings and that’s something I got very accustomed to while I was living in Mumbai.
Initially I was skeptical about getting into the kitchen and cooking a meal because I was feeling Low on energy, but this dish takes all of 25 minutes to cook and is an absolute delight!!
Poha is a staple dish of Maharashtra and is usually cooked with a lot of kanda (onions), chilies, mustard & cumin seeds and potatoes. The extra lemon is what makes a huge difference to this dish and pairing it with a hot cup of coffee or tea sets the stage for a great dish on a rainy day.
It literally takes 3 steps to cook this dish and I strongly advise you make this on weekdays for breakfast; you can also choose to pack it for lunch or a hot snack at work to stop you from munching on all the available cookies!
I am definitely packing the leftovers for myself and my husband's lunch tomorrow! I hope you are interested in trying this out and if so, do stay tuned for the recipes in the "Recipes On Demand" section of my blog.
